Real Life Arithmetic Sequences/Series

Key points

  • There are many real-world applications for arithmetic sequences and series.
    • All applications are based on a constant, additive progression of numerical values.

As defined previously, an arithmetic sequence is a list of numbers in which a constant is being added to the previous term to find the next term. An arithmetic series is the sum of this sequence.

  • Any application of arithmetic progressions depend on the addition or subtraction of a constant.
    • Examples: simple interest, taking  money out of an account, taking marbles out of a bag, etc.
