Vertex Form

Key points

  • Vertex form is a way to express a quadratic equation that makes the vertex easy to discern.
    • f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k.
      • The vertex is: (h,k).

Vertex Form is an alternative way to express the equation for a quadratic function. It is used to easily find the vertex of a parabola.

  • Horizontal and vertical components (acceleration or velocity) are independent
  • Vertex Form is as follows: f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k.
    • The vertex is: (h,k).
  • Be careful with the change of sign of h between the equation and the coordinate point.
